Job Description

Aim of volunteering role:

To volunteer for Involve’s Community Wellbeing Team, who work on reducing isolation and loneliness through organising different community activities including lunches, day trips, assisted shopping and befriending.



Visiting an older person in their home for a cup of tea and a chat to give them some company.


Flexible and depends on the older person too. Many current befrienders visit their befriendee weekly or fortnightly for an hour or so.

Place of work:
 Client’s home (we can match befrienders by location as well as interests and gender etc.)

Volunteer manager: Community Wellbeing Team Volunteer Coordinator

Skills required:

  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Empathetic, compassionate and patient.
  • Reliable and friendly.

DBS Checking:

Volunteers who will be directly and significantly involved with children and/or vulnerable adults will be required to undergo a police check.
