Strood Community Shop CIC is a social enterprise that raises funds for Strood Community Centre, a registered charity that was created to support the people of Strood and the Hoo Peninsular. We tackle a range of social issues, such as poverty, employment, skills, community isolation. Strood Community Centre runs a busy advice centre providing advice, guidance and support on virtually any personal or family issues.
Strood Community Centre is entirely funded by the proceeds made within our community shop. We have a wide range of volunteering roles available, and not just regular retail work. From sorting incoming donations, to selecting our best stock for our designer range, or researching antiques, or managing our busy ebay sales. Or perhaps you enjoy customer service, where you will meet people from all walks of life. Whatever your interest, there’s a role for you.
Our retail team is more than just a team, we are a family. Many of our volunteers just come along for the company and a chat and we have regular social events. We have volunteers that offer just one or two hours a week, but some who come in several days a week – the hours can be flexible to suit your needs.
