Job Description

Could you spare 3-4 hours per month , every month?
Are you trustworthy, reliable and friendly?
Do you have access to a car?
Would you like to make a positive difference to a child or young person’s life?

An independent visitor is a volunteer who visits, supports and befriends a young person in care between the ages of 7-18.
You would spend about 3-4 hours every month together, sharing activities and offering 1:1 time. You will be a friend and a positive adult who can offer sound advice, and be an independent ally for that child.
We work with various local authorities in the South West. We provide training, supervision and support. We reimburse expenses, including mileage payments.
We follow safe recruitment practice and take up written and phone references, make health checks and carry out an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

We want to attract a range of people and are keen to receive applications from people of all backgrounds. We especially encourage men and people from black and other minority ethnic groups to apply and join our diverse team of volunteers.
You must be over the age of 21, be able to commit to this supportive relationship for a minimum of 18 months and have regular access to a car.
Visits and outings usually occur after school/college, at the weekends and during school holidays.
